Living in Los Angeles, everything vegan is praised to be the best thing since sliced bread (gluten-free of course). People’s food choices are more health driven over being taste driven. Items like Kombucha is everywhere! Let me tell you the moment I found out what it was, I had the toughest time being able to take one more sip.
Maybe this makes me the outlier in this city because I love my milk, yogurt, cheese, ice cream WAY to much to give it up for a slightly slimmer figure. However, I have ONE and only ONE exception of when I will choose the vegan product over my dairy friend.
Functioning on a weekday without an espresso drink is just no longer a plausible thought in my world. However, with all this summer heat I have to swap out my beloved cappucinos for an iced beverage. If still not a coffee fan, iced lattes are the way to go- Iced lattes with almond milk that is.
Now why would a non-vegan choose almond milk? I have no sensitivity to lactose, nor am I chasing after some bikini bod that will leave me hangry in the process. It simply tastes better.
I can’t drink espresso without any kind of sweetener, but unless a cafe has the liquid sugar, it’s pretty tough to properly sweeten iced beverages. Plus, I have diffuculty measuring how much liquid sugar is enough.
Simply put, for those on the go, almond milk is the perfect substitute for sweeteners and eliminate having to pick, measure, and stir to perfection.
