City Guide: Santa Monica

Everyone’s favorite beach side playground, the city of Santa Monica has much to be discovered. From night time beach concerts to B.Y.O.B Caribbean food joints, there is a reason why locals believe that ‘the westside is the best side’.

FOR YOUR CULINARY PLEASURE

It’s all about the brunch. Places like Bru’s Wiffle Waffle & Brick & Mortar are always jam packed.

Check out Cha Cha Chicken for a more relaxed B.Y.O.B brunch fest. With being  just steps away from the beach, it’s prime location for a Sunday Funday.

FOR CHEAP EATS

Every Tuesday in LA, places are having taco deals. One popular bar for $5 all you can eat tacos is Cabo Cantina right on the Promenade.

To be more adventurous, have a lunch on the go at Sunny Blue. This little shop is serving up Japanese Omusubi (rice balls). Super delicious and around $3 each, you can try something new and not blow through your budget.

FOR PEOPLE WATCHING

Day Time: The 3rd Street Promenade & The Pier is where both tourist and locals alike come to shop and play. Just south of the pier is an outdoor playground/gym area where you can see people walk on a tight rope and do acro-yoga.

Night Time: In the summer look out for special events. Every Thursday night there is a free beach concert on the pier. Locals bring picnics & blankets to enjoy the show from the beach just south of the pier.

The Bungalow is where people flock year round to booze and socialize in the beach home style lounge. Decorated with plenty of seating and fire pits, it’s a prime location to see millennial life on the westside of L.A.

FOR CHEAP DRINKS

Happy Hour is abundant in Santa Monica, with both pubs and high end restaurants offering a discounted fare.

FOR A NIGHT OF DANCING

Main Street is the biggest concentration of Santa Monica night life. There is a mix of bars with live bands like Basement Tavern & Finn McCools, and lounges playing Top 40 & old school hits like 31 Ten Lounge.

FOR DRUNK FOOD

Holy Guacamole on Main Street is always a safe bet open later than the bars. Food trucks also make regular appearances on the side streets of Main St.

If you’re near the promenade and call it a night early, 800 degress will be classiest drunk food you’ll ever get. Otherwise a short uber ride to N.Y. & C. pizza is your best bet.

FOR A ROMANTIC DATE

Coast Shutters on the Beach is true California style. Reserve a seat on the patio and enjoy fresh seafood. Take a walk on the beach after dinner & watch the sunset.
