Fritzi Dog

Located in the Original Farmer’s Market, one of the 5 L.A. Foodie Things To Do, Fritzi Dog is serving up some classic and unique chef created dogs. Using ingredients that are free from hormones & anti-biotics,  Fritzi Dog is more than just another hot dog stand.


Being in the bustling Original Farmer’s Market, the space is very much alive year around.  Always attracting a global crowd, languages from around the world fill the air in this iconic market adjacent to The Grove.

Having more variety than most hot dog places, there are 8 dogs & and over 20 toppings. PLUS, 5/8 of their dogs are pork free, for those who don’t get down with the swine. This turkey & duck dog was my favorite dog. Served on a pretzel bun with a garlic aoili & crispy onions, this is a true gourmet creation.


Appealing to the tastes & demands of Angelinos, there is not only a gluten-free bun, but an entire ‘Vegetarian Menu’. Their veggie dogs are made out of a WHOLE carrot.  Cooked sous-vide with 26 spices, this ‘fully loaded’ carrot dog is topped with brussels spouts tossed in a parsley gremoulade.

Of course, they have the classic L.A bacon wrapped hot dog topped with peppers & onions. You can find these street dog’s outside of any Hollywood nightclub in the wee hours of the night, but if you’re not the club going type, Fritzi has you covered. Plus unlike the street dogs, all of dogs here are hormone & anti-biotic-free.

Saving the best for last, Fritzi has oh so delicious sides.


My favorite were these bacon hush puppies on a stick.

Now, these ‘Bacon Pups’ weren’t just my favorite side, but my favorite thing on their menu.  The Canadian style bacon is cooked sous-vide, resulting in a tender, fall apart perfectly salty piece of ham, that is then coated in a light corn dog batter. Fried to a golden perfection and served with a sweet chili sauce, this dish is possibly one of my single favorite things I’ve eaten in Los Angeles.

  1. I have never seen a whole carrot as a hot dog but something I would want to try! The bacon wrapped one intrigues me as well as the hush puppies with the hidden surprise!
