Grand Central Market

There is no better foodie haven than market.  This downtown LA warehouse style market brings a big city feel to an outdoorsy place like Los Angeles.

Butchers, produce & artisan cheeses are just a few types of groceries you can pick up here.  The more unique stands sell various dried chilies, that help create the unique aromas that tickle both your nose and appetite.  The vendors serve up everything from pressed juice to Texas style BBQ.

My friend Nicole told me about the market after she had discovered it one day after work.  She was raving about these delicious tacos that were only $3.  So of course my first stop upon arrival to the market was Tacos Tumbras A Tomas.

The steak street tacos came with 5 tortillas underneath.  With a good helping of spicy salsa, I thoroughly enjoyed this meal not sure how I was going to continue my foodsploration in this market after much a filling ‘snack’.

After some light grocery shopping, I checked out the outdoor patio where there’s more counter top eateries as well as a shaded communal style picnic tables where you can enjoy food or drink from the walk up bar. I sat down on one of the benches under a tree with an Arnold Palmer from Horse Thief BBQ and chatted away with Nicole before heading back home.

‘Twas a good day at the market indeed.  Now off to find more culinary inspiration worthy local eats.
