Muddy Buddies

Sometimes its nice to skip the bars (or frats if you’re in college) and have a girls movie night in.  No movie night is right without proper snacks.  Popcorn is usually the obvious choice, but unlike the theater where you try not to pick all the snacks because they are so pricey, at home you can have a movie snack buffet.

So what better to have than a snack from our childhood to nosh on while screaming at the screen when Mr. Big left Carrie at the alter.

The recipe for muddy buddies is on the side of the corn Chex box, so this post is more of a visual aid for those who have never made, only indulged in this wonderful snack!  Also this is a great if any of your friends have gluten allergies!

You also can find a muddy buddy recipe on the Chex website.

In a large mixing bowl pour in the cereal.

Give it a good mix, then microwave for an additional 30 seconds.

Mix again, and pour over cereal.

Mix well, then transfer into a gallon ziplock bag.

Pour in powdered sugar, zip up & shake vigorously until everything is coated.

Powdered Sugar for Muddy Buddies

Transfer onto a lined sheet pan.  Parchment is ideal, but I ran out so I used plastic wrap. Shake the pan to spread & stick the tray into the fridge.

When your guests have arrived, transfer into a serving bowl. These are dangerous, because it is impossible to stop eating them once you’ve started.
