The Slanted Door

Friday I flew back home to the San Francisco Bay Area to celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend.  Immediately upon landing, my mom drove me to the San Francisco to meet up with my Auntie Sharon at the Vietnamese restaurant The Slanted Door, located in The Ferry Building.

The expectations for culinary greatness were immediately upped.

Right outside is an amazing view of the Bay Bridge.

The Ferry Building houses a market of gourmet foods including a shop dedicated entirely to mushrooms.

Vietnamese food is one of my favorites, especially for summer time,  No one does cold food better than the Vietnamese.  The salads are so simple and healthy ingredients, but so bold in flavor with their uses of fish sauce and mint.

Vermicelli Noodle Salad

My favorites were the vermicelli rice noodle salad & the crispy imperial rolls.

Now off to happy hour across the way on the patio of Hotel Vitale’s restaurant Americano.

Cheers!
